Chocolate - Bike Series

I really like this old bike graphics series for Chocolate Skateboards. Not sure who the artist was, Evan Hecox, maybe? Anyway the decks are colored nicely and beautiful, would be cool to have a chopper series illustrated in this style. bike_series1.jpg

First time on a "Real Halfpipe"

My wife surprised me with a vert lesson today. Yes lesson, I've been thinking of riding a real half pipe now for more than 20 years. Today was the first time in my 36 years of life. I didn't want to get hurt and wanted to get off on a good foot. Pretty intimidating ramp for your first crack at transitions. Awesome fun, very humbling. I have a lot of work ahead of me. I was running Bones SPF's, they seemed way slippery on the "ecolite" surface at CJ's skatepark. I kept slipping out on the transition. Not like the local concrete skatepark. I think I need to find my sweet spot. A sick ramp, I must go back soon! half_pipe1.jpg half_pipe2.jpg Busted out the 4Q shirt to give me some support for the vert! half_pipe3.jpg

A moment alone to reflect

cold_out_1.jpg Reflecting on this years skating. I stopped for more than a decade but have made an effort to get out regularly this year. I never rode transition before, always dreamed of it as a kid but there was nothing near to ride or just too expensive to get out to the parks from my home. Now the public parks are so cool. My wife thinks I'm having a mid life crisis but it's just so fun to get out there and learn something new all over. You never stop doing the things you love. Now just got to figure out how to keep healthy and not get hurt!

SPF Chris Miller 58mm

Nothing like a fresh set of wheels and bearings. Hoping to ride some indoor parks and more transitions over the winter so I will be rocking these Bones SPF's and new bearings too. It's freezing here but I will go try out tomorrow. chrismiller1.jpg

My first board - can't find it

I'm on a hunt for my first board. I know it's some where at my parents home. A Jeff Grosso, blocks Schmitt Stix. I loved everything about it. This image is not mine, it's one I found on the web. I had a red stained deck, with trackers, red copers and the Powell 3's? The big huge wheels. Just like in this pic. Except mine is in much better shape. You know, first board, very gentle with it and the graphics and all. Oh well, it's killing me, I know it's somewhere in my parents home, I will find it! grossoblocks.jpg

Skate season winding down

I'm usually at the park early on the weekends to avoid the crowds. This is what greeted me today. Didn't have a broom on me so had a short 1 hour session dodging leaves, surprised I only had one small spill. Oh well, getting cold too. markham_park2.jpg markham_park1.jpg markham_park3.jpg

Ouch!

68gxekg.jpg My Ryan Smith Mystery deck when it was new. I loved the graphics and actually got a few and passed them along to buddies. board_1.jpg bike_73.jpg Glad to have see some articles around the web that show Ryan Smith has made an incredible recovery. Sorry, can't remember where I got the pics of the bike from.
